Bigmouth Strikes Again

The Smiths nerds unite! I love this: A presenter with BBC’s Springwatch, Chris Packham, casually slips in one Smiths reference in each of his episodes.

If, like me, you feel a warm glow of pride when you watch this, you’re probably very far gone in terms of music nerddom.

If you were in Chris’s place, what band would you reference?

It’s amazing isn’t it!? It has considerably perked up my otherwise crappy day!
    What a legend.
    Chris Packham, I salute you.

Love it! Complete genius. Is it even nerdier that I noticed this while watching and was looking out for The Smiths references every time…

You win th uber-music-nerd prize Laura! 🙂

Deadly! Reminds me of Douglas Coupland’s novel “Girlfriend in a Coma” where random Morrissey/ Smiths song titles are incorporated subtly into the dialogue. Amusing!

I haven’t been able to track the footage down but have read plenty about it on multiple forums so it must be true! WWE commentator Matt Striker went through a phase last year of dropping multiple Smiths/Morrissey references into matches he was commentating on that featured British wrestler William Regal…

    “The maladjusted William Regal”
“Every day is like Sunday for William Regal”
“I ask the question, how soon is now?”
“The southpaw grammar of William Regal”
“You are the quarry as he rocks the no.1 contender”
“Regal is the ringleader of the tormentors”
