Crayonsmith is one of my favourite Irish bands and Ciaran Smith, the man behind the band, is one of the cheeriest musicians in Ireland and an excellent songwriter. Plus, his album White Wonder is one of my favourite albums ever – check it out.
He’s been busy writing new songs for his forthcoming album, and lucky for us he has put a demo up on his Myspace site. Click here to listen to Suitor Needs a Tutor, which is pretty disco-tastic and even features what I think are laser synths. Tasty! It reminds me a little of Alden Tyrell musically, but it still retains that Crayonsmith feel.
Crayonsmith plays with Think About Life (featuring members of Miracle Fortress) and Patrick Kelleher in Whelan’s Upstairs on Saturday 8 May. Doors are at 8pm and tickets are just €12.
