If you’ve been wondering where Waterford’s You’re Only Massive and Cork’s Queen Kong have got to, well here’s your answer: out foreign.

QK’s Dave Murphy and YOM’s Maebh Cheasty have been uber (sorry, couldn’t resist…) busy putting the final touches to their H8R H8R studio and getting ready to unleash some new tunes on the unsuspecting public. Now both performing under the name You’re Only Massive, they decamped to Berlin within the last year and clearly the laidback, artistic Berliner vibe is suiting them (although it’s questionable whether Dave’s shirt in this video would get past Irish customs).

‘Under the Neon’ is the new single by the duo and is somewhat of a follow-up to the album ‘Dot Dash’, which was released last year and had YOM and QK tracks plus one collaborative track. This track, which was recorded live in the H8R H8R studio, features Maebh’s distinctive vocals run through a distortion pedal, backed by Dave on pretty savage synth drums. I think the song really kicks in around 1min in – and you can blame me if the words ‘neon, neon, neon, NEON’ are stuck in your ears for the next few hours…
