I’m delighted this is finally online – an interview I did with my friend Vicky Langan (performance artist/experimental musician/event curator) about her work and inspiration. I’ve been really curious for a long time about what motivates her, so it was great to get to chat about it. Ping Pong: Ensemble Economique, Strawk

Cork’s Ping Pong has provided me with many of my favourite nights out in its time, so I was quite sad when the guys who run it (Shane, Niall and Albert), decided to take a break. But they are, thankfully, back in the promoting game once again, and are bringing Ensemble Economique and Strawk to the city this weekend. The Jimmy Cake, Popical Island, Riona Sally Hartman

Believe it or not, that photo of Vinnie and John Dermody above wasn’t taken when the band which they are longtime members of, The Jimmy Cake, was formed back in 2000… though they look so youthful, it could well be. I interviewed them in the multi-patterned confines of the Parlour bar in Whelan’s last week (where I coveted all the incredible vintage/retro furniture, sigh) for Community of Independents, and took that pic after.
